The distillation of essential oils has evolved over the centuries, blending ancestral techniques with contemporary innovations. At Bonda, we use distillation methods that preserve the quality of the oils while maintaining harmony with nature to create 100% natural essential oils.
The history of distillation dates back to ancient civilizations, where rudimentary stills were used to extract essences from a wide variety of plants. Today, steam distillation is the standard method in essential oil production. This process allows aromatic compounds to be extracted without altering their properties, ensuring that each drop of oil is pure and authentic.
In our distillery, we use copper stills, which are not only effective at removing impurities but also contribute to the quality of the final product. When we light our stills, we connect with the tradition of distillation and the history it carries.
The process begins with identifying fresh plants, fruits, or flowers at their optimal point of harvest, prioritizing the best shoots at the right moment. Parameters such as the flowering stage or lunar phase are taken into account—also in the case of woods. Once cleaned to remove impurities and weighed, the plant material is placed into the still, where it is heated with steam.
The steam passes through the plant matter, releasing essential oils and other aromatic compounds. As the steam cools, it condenses into liquid, which is then decanted and separated into oil and hydrosol. This method ensures that the oils retain their natural properties, offering a high-quality final product that reflects the authentic essence of each plant.
By integrating the wisdom of traditional techniques with a modern approach, we aim to offer products that truly enrich the lives of those who use them. Every drop of distilled oil, every bottle that leaves our distillery, is a reflection of our dedication and commitment to excellence.
